Blue Ribbon Sushi

What a gem! I didn’t expect this place to have such a nice vibe and decor. All the wooden accents that they have and the nice sushi bar setup add a really authentic touch to the place. Also the way they serve the sushi on a wooden tray makes it a much more enjoyable experience than the usual ceramic plates. I got around 10 maki pieces and they were delicious! The rice was very soft and moist, the seaweed wrap was not chewy at all, and the fish tasted very fresh! I also got a seaweed side salad (which in my opinion can be shared by 2 people) and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this place whether it’s for a night out with friends or a date! Though I would try to get a table in the area where the sushi bar is because the further you go inside the more isolated you feel, but still enjoyable! I would say that the service was a bit slow but I think it was understandable when you factor in the large amount of people, the quality and presentation of the dishes, and the care they put into them.

A decent sushi place, quantity and quality is good for the price point (for example, in comparison to Uni). Tho nothing really stood out in terms of flavor profile or presentation that triggered the will to put this place in my Boston Japanese restaurant list (for example, in comparison to Zuma). The restaurant’s fairly busy on a Friday night, but everyone’s attentive. Their cocktails were not that good, but it could be personal preferences, tried lychee martini, was overly heavy and sweet, and the last one on the cocktail list, it just tasted like ginger beer, couldn’t taste anything else, almost like no alcohol in it. Liked their hot sake tho.

If I could give higher, I would. This spot was pick as a birthday dinner for me! It's right off the Kenmore T stop right on Comm Ave. Small but spacious it was overall just cute. I would recommend for a small group or date night. We started with sake both martini and hot for drinks. We were offered samples of other sakes offered and recommended they do a sake tasting! It was that good. Needless to say nothing else was added. We started off with the wagyu gyoza which had a good balance of salt and spicy. The miso soup the miso on the side so you can control the flavor. We had the sushi and sashimi combo to start adding the blue ribbon lobster roll as an entrée. We also added a second selection of sushi and sashimi which were equally delicious. For dessert we opted for the green tea creme brulee, the chocolate bruno, and mochi. All I have to say is OMG. All of the staff we interacted with were pleasant.

If you’re looking for a pretty good sushi place to eat lots of sushi and have a good time with friends then this is the place for you. Food: The sushi is excellent - the closest to an omakase experience in Boston. The rolls are incredible for this area. The crispy rice was on point as well! I could’ve eaten two portions of that easily! I highly recommend it. Atmosphere: Great vibes! This place is trendy with low lighting - making for an intimate experience. The service staff are also personable and provide you with a lovely experience! Price: $$$ - It is higher priced sushi but it’s pretty good. The drinks are expensive too but delicious and some are stronger so it’s worth it. Parking: There is street parking here, however, it’s Boston and it’s crowded all the time!!

At lunch hour on Sunday there was no master chef. Overrated and overpriced for average sushi was how i felt from my experience, perhaps my expectation was too high from the reviews. Ordered deluxe sushi, spicy tuna Maki, spicy crab roll, ebi tempura roll, uni maine nigiri, dragon roll and we were still hungry, so added prime zabuton steak. $42 Prime zabuton was appetizer size, with no rice or any sides, dry and too chewy. $47 sushi deluxe came with clumsy roll and nigiri. Tuna Maki had big chunk of unpeeled cucumber like a stick instead of thin slices. Uni $24 for 2 pcs was very good though. $26 dragon roll:Half the size of average Maki, with no toppings like roe except sprouts. They should call it eel avocado roll. $17 crab roll: just bland crab. Overall, everything had no flavor, even Wasabi and soy sauce. Our server was yasashii and attentive, dining area and rest rooms were clean. Sigh..think this will be my last hunt for exceptional sushi restaurant in mass..😮‍💨

Sushi for Boston!! I was so impressed with their quality of sushi. (Better than Zuma and Douzo haha) Of course I cannot deny its high price, but if you want to enjoy sushi not in a high-end omakase setting, this place is the best to enjoy sushi and sashimi. I liked the music they're playing and the atmosphere was awesome to enjoy the whole platter at that moment. And I want to appreciate server's big smile when I enter and leave the restaurant. Willing to visit here again!!
